Filmgruppen i Växjö

Filmgruppen shows movies every Thursday and Sunday in Weber located in the main buildning. Membership cost 60kr/semester (40 kr for exchangestudents) and include all screenings. Members must be students at Växjö university. Contact: filmgruppen@vxu.se

    about the film which is
    ´requiem for a dream´

    when I watched this film,
    I could listen requiem music a lot.
    so I began to think.
    ´why the directer used so much this kind of deep and dark and sad music in this film?´

    I think he thinks that 'life is hard and people are suffering through the life becase of a lot of reasons. such as lonliness.

    they looks like they are in front of the door to the death.

    but I could not find any dream.
    becasue there are only a lot of
    illusions in this film.
    I think it is not the real dream which they can achieve.

    I can see the characters' dream.
    1. old women's dream is being on the television show with red dress on. And she will talk about her dead husband and her son who made a success in his business.

    2. son's dream is quiet apparent.
    Because we can see the scene which shows his dream twice. that is walking to the girl whom he loves. and she is far away from him and she feels the sea's air. she is just in front of the sea.
    background is sun shining and blue sky, blue sea.

    3. the son's friend's dream is kind of memory about her mom.
    when he was young he ran into his mom and she is so warm and kind to him. when this guy had a drug, and sex he thinks about this memory.

    these dreams cannot be a real. Especially old women's lonliness is touching to me. Her acts reminds me my mom and daddy and grandmom. She yelled to her son that 'I am old and I am alone!' On the way back to his house, son is crying bitterely.

    So somehow they began to addicted to the drugs.
    and because of this,characters are much more suffered eventually.
    pleasure is instant and timid like a dream. but suffering is too vivid and makes time too long.
    it is sad.

    Characters want to escape from the real world so they choose the other way. But that way makes people more harder. They destroied their lives. Make their life again as the same before looks impossible.

    For me, this is too heavy.
    and the back ground sound makes me nervous. heavy and deep emotions sometimes very worth. But I think in this film the directer use this method too much. I think TOO MUCH is not good any way.

    for example, look at the characters. they are addicted by the drugs. Addiction means too much.
